Girl, 6, shot near Philadelphia Zoo

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A six-year-old girl has been hospitalized after being shot Monday afternoon near the Philadelphia Zoo.

Philadelphia police say the shooting happened near 3:40 p.m. on Wyalusing Ave. near North 38th St., about a block away from the western side of the zoo.

The girl was shot in the left leg. Police say they took her to Children's Hospital and was placed in stable condition.

Officers had not made any arrests as of early Monday evening, and they did not initially find the weapon used in the shooting.
