PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An 11-year-old girl is recovering after investigators say she was shot by a stray bullet.
It happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Glenwood neighborhood of North Philadelphia.
Police said the girl was struck in the hip. Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said she was taken to the hospital and is lucky to be in stable condition.
"It appears there was an argument of some kind between at least two people," he said. "Someone fired rounds toward 11th and Venango [streets], and we believe the 11-year-old was hit by a stray bullet."
No arrests have been made yet and no weapons have been recovered, police said.
