PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A stray bullet struck and injured a 7-year-old girl who, police say, was an innocent bystander during a triple shooting in Philadelphia Wednesday night.
Two men were shot — a 43-year-old was hit in the chest, and a man in his 50s or 60s was struck in the face. During the exchange of gunfire, the girl was also injured.
“We found that a bullet entered a property on the block, went through the door and struck the 7-year-old female in the foot,” said Philadelphia Police Deputy Commission Frank Vanore.
“Everything's in the middle of the street. There's a couple of cars struck by gunfire. The little girl was in a house on the other side of the block, and that bullet travels through the door. She was not on the street. So she's an absolute innocent bystander to other individuals.”
All three victims were taken to area hospitals. The men were listed in critical condition, while the girl was listed in stable condition.
Vanore said they’re still investigating the motive, but they are looking into if an argument over parking may have started the gunfire.
