PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A New Jersey grand jury declined to file charges against a Millville police officer who killed a man in the line of duty on Jan. 4, 2022.
After an investigation by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, the grand jury voted not to charge officer Timothy Rehmann in the shooting death of 33-year-old Daniel Ackley.
Ackley was seen on body camera and by eye witnesses moving toward officers while holding a machete outside of a home on Burns Road in Millville. Officer Rehmann fired, striking Ackley in the stomach.
The AG's office says it thoroughly investigates all situations when someone dies during interactions with law enforcement.
