PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — No, that’s not a presidential motorcade. It’s just Gritty.

Our favorite furry Flyers mascot is turning 3 years old on Friday, and to celebrate, Gritty is driving around Philly on a motorcycle with a brigade in tow.

The motorcade joyride will start at the Wells Fargo Center, then head to iconic sites like the Philadelphia Museum of Art, City Hall and Logan Square. They will return to the Wells Fargo Center for a “private celebration” with cupcakes and an “a cappella arrangement” birthday serenade.

According to Gritty, his birthday is the third biggest holiday behind Christmas and National Left-Handers Day.

The trip starts at noon, so get your phones ready to capture a glimpse of the orange creature in the flesh (fuzz?) along the highway and in town.

Of course, the celebration begs the question: How does a 3-year-old have a license to drive a motorcycle?
