4 killed in North Philadelphia; 2 victims shot dozens of times

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Police Department said four people have died after three shootings within a 95-minute period Monday night in North Philadelphia, including one incident where two victims were shot a combined 46 times.

Police said that double-shooting happened at about 6:40 p.m. near the corner of Ella Street and East Indiana Avenue in the city's Fairhill neighborhood.

According to authorities, a 25-year-old man was shot 14 times. The other victim, whose age was not initially known by police, was shot 32 times. Both men were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

About 70 minutes later, someone shot a 31-year-old man multiple times in the head and upper body near the corner of North Second and West Westmoreland streets in Fairhill, police said. That victim was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The first deadly shooting of the evening happened at about 6:15 p.m. near the corner of North Beechwood Street and Medary Avenue in the Ogontz neighborhood. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

Police said no suspects were initially arrested and no weapons were recovered from the scene in any of the three deadly shootings.
