PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Dust off your wand and Hogwarts robe: The Wizarding World is coming to you this winter.

A new immersive Harry Potter exhibition will kick off its world tour at The Franklin Institute on Feb. 18, 2022.

To celebrate the official date announcement, the Philly POPS played the quintessential movie score in the Franklin rotunda Wednesday morning.

“We’ve been working on it for several years, and this will be an all-new 'Harry Potter: The Exhibition,' ” said Tom Zaller, president and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions, which produces the show.

“A behind-the-scenes exhibition that celebrates these iconic moments — the most iconic moments. All of the characters, all of the beasts, everything you’ve come to know and love over the years of watching the films and all of the Wizarding World franchise.”

Mayor Jim Kenney joined in the announcement. He anticipates guests from near and far — which will benefit the region’s economy significantly.

“The great moment comes at a critical time when we need our economy, including our tourism economy, firing on all cylinders to bring speedy economic rebound from this terrible pandemic,” he said.

The show will feature an impressive experience with costumes props and film artifacts, as well as state-of-the-art technology that takes visitors to places like the Hogwarts Castle, Hagrid’s hut, and the Forbidden Forest.

The exhibit will run at the Franklin through about September 2022, then move on to other venues across the world.
