PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Tourists and Philly natives will have the chance to explore the city in new and unique ways this holiday season.
In partnership with the Philadelphia Visitor Center, walking tours at the Historic Philadelphia will be available to the public from Dec. 26 - 30. It makes stops at places like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Congress Hall, and has two showings each day – one at 11 a.m. and another at 2 p.m.
Attendees can enjoy a festive holiday drink while tour guides, who are portraying real, historical figures, talk about what Christmas was like during the colonial times.
Amy Needle, president and CEO of Historic Philadelphia, feels the character portrayals will make the stories they share more relevant and real.
Needle is looking forward to finally bringing the tour to life.
“It is something that we’ve been talking about for a long time, so we’re really excited that we’re going to bring it to fruition,” said.
After the tour, guests can head over to Franklin Square for a holiday light show or create their own special holiday photo shoot at the Betsy Ross House.
