HAVERFORD, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — For nearly two decades, some local college basketball programs have been holding Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service basketball clinics to raise money for the Community Action Agency of Delaware County. The pandemic has eliminated the basketball clinics this year, but not the desire to help.
The "Hoops From the Heart" clinics this year will be replaced by a food and supply drive.
"It's an outdoor event and it is contactless," said Bobbi Morgan, the head women's basketball coach at Haverford College. Donations will be accepted at the Haverford Community Recreational & Environmental Center at 9000 Parkview Drive in Haverford between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday.
"All we're asking people to do is box up canned goods and supplies in a bag or a box in your trunk and you literally pull up and we take it out," said Morgan.
In addition to Community Action Agency of Delaware County, this event will also benefit the Ardmore Food Pantry and Denis' Closet and Food Pantry.
