PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has been subpoenaed by the Republican chairman of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, over the city’s immigration policies.
In a letter to Krasner, Jordan accuses the city of giving “preferential treatment to illegal aliens to ensure that they do not face immigration consequences for their criminality.”
And, he says, in the two months since the committee asked for information about the city’s sanctuary policies, Krasner has “failed to produce even a single document.”
Krasner, in a video on social media, calls the letter a “nastygram.”
“Where’s my public hearing?” he asks. “[Jordan] would rather accuse from a distance and then do dirt in the dark than do anything in public. So, I’ve asked now for a public hearing in writing. I’ve asked for a public hearing at press conferences; I’ve asked again. I bolded the words. I underlined them.”
Jordan said Krasner has refused to cooperate with the committee and “has only made bizarre and baseless demands and conditions on his cooperation with the committee’s oversight.”
