PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Too much screen time before bed in adults has been shown to hinder sleep quality. Using electronic devices like phones and laptops in bed can have a dramatic impact on the sleep environment, making quality sleep difficult.

Researchers from the United Kingdom have looked at screen use before bed in infants and toddlers and found a negative impact on both the quality of sleep and attention span during waking hours.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends parents limit overall screen time in toddlers. This study suggests that the timing of screen time use is also important.
