CHERRY HILL, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A popular playground for kids with disabilities in Camden County will be closed for a few weeks for renovations.

Jake’s Place, part of the Adler Memorial Park in Cherry Hill, is specifically designed to provide an inclusive play area for children and adults with disabilities. After a decade of heavy use, though, Camden County is spending more than half a million dollars to resolve some water issues and make other upgrades.

“The playground has seen its wear and tear over 10 years,” said County Commissioner Jeff Nash. “It’s the most popular playground in the county system.”

In addition to a new drainage system, Nash says they will pour a new soft rubber surface that will hold up better over time.

“We’re installing an inclusive communication board and some other amenities. In addition, we are adding an all-inclusive bocce ball court,” Nash revealed.

According to Nash, the renovations should be completed and the park reopened by the end of the month.
