PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The personal information of some patients at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital may have been subject to a data breach, according to a statement released Thursday.

Jefferson said a technician was on site in June to do routine maintenance on the portable backup drive for a machine used to scan for bone density. That technician noticed the device was missing. After an investigation, the hospital could determine if the device was lost or stolen.

Information on that device could potentially include names, birthdates, medical record numbers and possibly home addresses, Jefferson said, but a lot of data is not at risk.

Diagnoses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, insurance information and driver’s license numbers — as well as the actual scans — are not viewable without the login credentials, exact system software and additional technology.
