PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the defendants charged in the Northeast Philadelphia bus stop shooting that injured eight students has pleaded guilty to several charges in a deal with prosecutors.

Jermahd Carter, 20, is accused of being one of four suspects who fired at a large group of Northeast High School students as they waited for a bus at Cottman and Rising Sun Avenues in Burholme on March 6, 2024.

All of the victims were between 15 and 17 years old. A 16-year-old boy who was there was shot nine times, but survived.

Carter pleaded guilty to 10 of the 43 charges against him, including seven aggravated assaults, an attempted murder, a conspiracy, and a firearms offense.

His co-defendants Ahnile Buggs and Jaamal Tucker pleaded guilty to similar offenses in December and are scheduled to be sentenced in a few months.

Carter’s sentencing is scheduled for September.
