SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A federal judge awarded a Gloucester County woman an $8.7 million judgement this week after a Philadelphia man allegedly stole private photos of her and posted them online — accusations he faces from several other women as well.

In a civil lawsuit filed in a New Jersey federal court, Tyler J. Jones, 33, was accused of obtaining nude images of the plaintiff, identified as J.G., in Nov. 2022 by borrowing her phone and sending the photos to himself.

Attorneys for the plaintiff said Jones uploaded the stolen photos to websites and chat rooms where others could view and make comments. The plaintiff said she developed severe mental health issues as a result of Jones’ alleged actions, affecting her career and social life.

The alleged behavior falls into a pattern for Jones, who was charged last week by Pennsylvania prosecutors for similar offenses involving at least five victims. In each of those cases, prosecutors said Jones knew the victims and obtained the photos by asking to borrow their phones.

Jones also pleaded guilty in 2013 to an invasion of privacy charge after recording college students inside of a Villanova University bathroom. Bail was set at $350,000 in that case.
