PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — About 60 employers are looking to fill hundreds of jobs for Philadelphia military veterans and military spouses.
RecruitMilitary is hosting a job fair on Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jobs include financial services, supply, logistics, hospitality and retail.
“The unemployment rate for veterans in Pennsylvania is at 7.6%, which is well above the national unemployment rate of 4.8%,” said Jennifer Hadac, vice president of employment services. “Events like these are really giving the community the ability to connect and see how important and valued those military skills are.”
The job fair is contact-free. Candidates create their profile online and attach a digital resume. When they check in at the fair, they will be given a QR code, and employers can scan applicants’ codes to view their information.
“There are so many different opportunities, and what is so important to remember is that transitioning service members and veterans are looking to market the skills they gained in the military,” added Hadac. “They have so much to offer and the civilian community, the civilian employers are really looking for their skills.”
Registration and information on the job fair can be found here.
