SPRING HOUSE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Johnson & Johnson announced a more than $1 billion investment to build a new cancer-fighting manufacturing facility in Montgomery County.
The global health care company is constructing a state-of-the-art cell therapy manufacturing facility in Lower Gwynedd Township, where medicines for cancer, immune-mediated and neurological diseases will be produced.
“Together, as a result of this expansion, you are not only going to save lives, you are going to put a lot of people to work, and we are excited about that,” Gov. Josh Shapiro said during Wednesday’s announcement at J&J’s Spring House campus.
“You’ll be able to create over 4,000 construction jobs and 500 new permanent jobs in the life sciences, manufacturing, and on top of the 6,000 jobs that you already have supporting all across the commonwealth.”
The commonwealth is investing more than $41 million in tax credits and grants to support the bio-pharma company’s growth.
