COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Dozens of Bob Casey supporters rallied for the incumbent Pennsylvania senator on Sunday as he vies for re-election against Republican challenger Dave McCormick.
"Bob Casey will always stand up for a woman's right to choose. He will always stand with women in this commonwealth," said Gov. Josh Shapiro, underscoring a major theme Casey has emphasized during his re-election campaign: abortion access.
James Dugery of Montgomery County says children's health care legislation is the main reason he came to support Casey.
"It's helped a lot of kids get the quality education they've deserved. I was a beneficiary of that a long time ago," he said.
Casey also emphasized the fight for workers' unions, holding the rally at IBEW Local 126 in Collegeville.
Pennsylvania is one of the most pivotal states in the Nov. 5 general election, for the U.S. Senate and presidential races, and Casey says it's going to be a busy final month.
"So many Pennsylvanians are really tuned into this race in ways they weren't before because … I think they know what's at stake."
Following his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, former President Donald Trump will be back in the state Wednesday, in Scranton and Reading.
