PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the suspects arrested in connection with a shooting during a Muslim holiday celebration earlier this year pleaded guilty Monday morning to some of the charges.

Kahbir Oglesby-Hicks, 21, was the only adult charged in the April 10 shooting during an Eid al-Fitr celebration at Clara Muhammad Square in West Philadelphia.

At the time, the police commissioner said about 1,000 people were celebrating the end of Ramadan in the street when about 30 gunshots rang out. Investigators said two groups of young people exchanged gunfire.

Three people were shot.

Oglesby-Hicks pleaded guilty to gun charges, and prosecutors dropped the evading arrest charge.

The four others arrested in connection with this shooting are juveniles — one is 15 years old and three are 16. Due to state privacy laws, what happens in those cases won’t be open to the public.

Editor’s update, March 3, 2025:
Oglesby-Hicks was sentenced in December 2024 to three years of probation.
