PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The man accused of kidnapping and killing Kada Scott last October faced a judge Wednesday morning in another case — and faced the woman who said she survived his attack.
The young woman told the judge that in Jan. 2025, she was in a tumultuous relationship with Keon King and that one morning, she woke up to him peering through a window watching her sleep.
She told the judge that was how the nightmare began and that King was texting and calling her for hours. Then, as she was in her room with her baby, she said King peered through her window again.
The woman said her sister began recording on her cell phone, until King left. Prosecutors showed that video.
About an hour later, the woman said she was walking outside with her friend when King grabbed her and threw her in his car, choking, biting and hitting her. He eventually dropped her several blocks away, but threatened her and her family. She eventually flagged down police.
Though passionately peppered with questions by the defense attorney, the survivor firmly and calmly answered repeated questions, seemingly taking control of what happened to her.
King is accused of killing Kada Scott last October, and burying her in a shallow grave near a Germantown recreation center.
The District Attorney’s Office was criticized for originally dropping the survivor’s case — DA Larry Krasner blamed it on an inexperienced prosecutor. However, the homicide prosecutor handling Scott’s case is now handling this one.
The judge upheld all charges including kidnapping, strangulation, assault, harassment and related charges. King remains in prison.
