PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — While several COVID-19 vaccines are all designed to fight the virus, there's a concern that other vaccines are being forgotten.
Due to the pandemic — and the reluctance by many to see their physicians — vaccination coverage this year has plummeted to levels last seen in the 1990s. In some cases, falling behind a few months is not a major problem, and doctors' offices can usually catch up.
However, for highly contagious diseases like measles, it can be a major issue.
The problem is bigger across the globe: This year, 26 countries have paused their measles vaccination campaigns to stop the spread of the coronavirus, leaving 94 million people at risk of missing these crucial vaccinations.
