PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — When it comes to an illness like COVID-19, large numbers — like the staggering amount of cases or vaccine doses administered — don't mean much if you are the person who gets infected. After all, each of us reacts differently when exposed.
But what about those who get the vaccine? It is becoming quite clear that once a person is vaccinated, they are far less likely to get sick, even if they become infected.
Health care workers were some of the earliest to get the vaccine and thus studied. Of a group of 8,100 people vaccinated in Texas, only four people got COVID-19 a full two weeks or more after being vaccinated.
A similar study in California found out of 15,000 vaccinated subjects, only seven tested positive for COVID-19 a full two weeks after vaccination.
