KYW Medical Report: Continuing telehealth post-pandemic

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in many changes — some for the better.

People are starting to feel comfortable returning to doctor’s offices again, but during the height of the pandemic, face-to-face visits were limited to help reduce the spread of the virus. Doctors were forced to turn to their computers and telehealth examinations.

What happened over the following months was an unexpected and major surprise for many. The virtual visits were more convenient and extremely valuable when used appropriately. The technology improved, third-party payers supported the efforts, and the continuity of care was not broken.

A new study has found that doctors are overwhelmingly in favor of continuing telehealth post-pandemic. Some patients have been asking why health care providers didn’t think of it sooner.
