PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As most of the U.S. works to return to normalcy, the COVID-19 pandemic is traumatizing other parts of the world.
In many parts of the world, the vaccine supply remains limited, and another chapter in the COVID-19 saga is being written as this virus crisscrosses the globe.
Recent statistics reveal the number of deaths worldwide has risen to 12%, and daily cases are up 27%. The greatest devastation is now in India, where cases are topping more than 300,000 a day.
And, as we know all too well, hospitalizations rise with the case count.
The surge has left hospitals overburdened and out of beds, but particularly devastating is a lack of oxygen. There is a mad scramble to get oxygen tanks to suffocating patients.
