PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Plans for distribution of the vaccine to the general public are being reviewed and evaluated every day. The constant review is critical for success.

The distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine will continue throughout the spring. Plans continue to evolve but here is the basic strategy: The goal is for the experience to resemble getting the flu shot.

Hospitals and large pharmacy chains are expected to be among those administering the early vaccines. By late spring and summer, independent pharmacies and local health clinics and doctor's offices will probably be administering vaccines as well.

Don't be surprised to see creative distribution paths such as outdoor and drive-thru clinics to allow for large numbers of people to get their shots in a safe manner.

One major reminder: Whether vaccinated or not, we all need to continue wearing masks and social distancing.
