PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Events that take place in the first three years of a child's life could have a major impact on obesity later on.
According to a new study in the journal Pediatrics, which focused on increases in childhood obesity in the United States, health coaching for parents can make a major difference because parents learn to establish proper eating habits.
The study looked at all income groups, including those who were economically challenged, and it was clear that the first 1,000 days establish lifelong habits and have an impact on metabolism.
However, there is another key message: It is never too late to make adjustments as the child grows and develops.
