PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Vaccines are giving millions of people a sense of freedom, but not at 100%.
In comparison, many formerly incarcerated people have said it was difficult to move past a strange comfort that can result from what is generally a horrible experience — where freedom is denied and suddenly restored.
It is a strange parallel, but for many people, emerging after more than a year of COVID-19 disruption, fear and isolation is similar to an incarcerated person's experience.
There is a fear of re-emerging, and it is understandable.
Clearly, we need to be safe as we re-enter the workforce and return to greater social interaction. It's important to remember that the isolation of the past year is not good for any of us, and we need to take the steps necessary to get back in the game again.
