KYW Medical Report: COVID-19 hospitalizations down among older adults

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Keeping up with COVID-19 can be overwhelming, as numerous studies and guidelines are released every week.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a reliable source if you are looking for information. And, one of its latest announcements is one of hope.

According to the CDC, adults 65 and older now make up less than one-third of all coronavirus-associated hospitalizations. This is down from more than half of the cases just four months ago.

Additionally, research has shown those 65 and older are more likely to wear masks and social distance, but the presence of the vaccine has made the biggest difference. The most vulnerable are starting to reap the rewards of the vaccination program.
