PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the greatest challenges people are facing with COVID-19 is uncertainty. Of course, that is nothing new for physicians.
For much of the past century, most patients expected answers from their doctors, and if a physician expressed doubt about a medical treatment, it was seen as a weakness.
Fortunately, the dialogue between patients and doctors has improved over the years, and physicians discuss options with patients knowing there are few complete solutions.
Similar messaging is important for COVID-19. It can be argued that testing, vaccines and medications designed to attack the virus have been some of the greatest developments in medical history, but knowledge about the virus and treatments is ever-changing.
Two-way communication remains critical.
