PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There has been a great deal of concern in the medical community that the lockdown of the past year seriously limited important care for patients.
In the peak days of the pandemic, many patients were not able to be seen in person. Fortunately, for those who are vaccinated, the risks are dramatically reduced, and more people are being examined in person.
But there is good news in one important area based on last year’s statistics: The rate of cancer deaths continued to decline in 2020.
Experts credit better prevention and detection. In addition, there have been huge developments in treatment.
One last point — and it is an important one — telehealth appears to have had a major impact.
