PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As we get older, we tend to look back on our childhood and make things a bit more dramatic — hence the classic line, "When I was your age…"
But for kids in 2021, there is no need to exaggerate the stresses of living through a pandemic.
It's important for parents to have honest conversations with kids and avoid sugarcoating the situation. Kids will bring up many questions, and your answers should be direct and truthful.
When possible, try to help your children be part of the decision-making process, and when you discuss social distancing and masks, explain the science behind it.
It isn't easy, but these are difficult times.
