PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As COVID-19 restrictions are loosened, those who have not been vaccinated are potentially at a greater risk.
The CDC has changed its recommendations to permit those who have been vaccinated to no longer wear masks in many social settings. So what is the future for those who are vaccine hesitant?
We have few examples since these recommendations are so new, but children may provide a clue. In Colorado, for instance, most children attend school in person.
As more adults have been vaccinated, there are greater chances for kids to be exposed. In a one-week period, 26.4% of children tested in Colorado were COVID-19 positive. The week before, it was only 19%.
Assuming a similar percentage increase in unvaccinated adults, these numbers will go up. The only difference: Adults get much sicker.
It is important to stress vaccination, especially as the safety profile looks better and better.
