PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Four people were taken to the hospital after fire tore through a home in Huntingdon Valley, Montgomery County early Friday morning.
The garage of the house on Warfield Drive was nearly destroyed, a car was reduced to an ashen metal shell and the side of the house was burned away, allowing neighbors to see straight into the second floor.

Huntington Valley fire chief Ted Middleman said the fire started around 12:20 a.m. Friday.
Neighbor Ben Kulp said four people lived in the home—an elderly couple and their two sons in their 60s or 70s, one of whom he said tried to put the fire out with a garden hose. They were released later Friday morning.
“Very friendly family, so it's a shame,” Kulp said. “They've been here 40-some years, I'd say. Everything they had was in that house. It’s gone.”
Neighbors were shocked by the destruction.
“I'm speechless because I heard sirens late last night,” said Eddie Milner. “I see the house was caught on fire, and I hope everybody's all OK.”
Both neighbors expressed their concern for the family and the loss of their home.
“There was a point [where] we were worried about the house next door, but I'm worried about the residents that were here,” Kulp said. “I don't know what they're gonna do, where they're gonna go.”
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.
