KYW Medical Report: Some video games are good for your health

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Video games generally get a great deal of criticism when it comes to people’s health, but there are also many positive aspects.

Certainly playing too many video games and staying sedentary can be bad for your health, and there are clear concerns about teens playing violent games. However, there are many creative games that can help.

For instance, a game called EndeavorRx can help children with ADHD. It is designed to help them stay engaged with therapy.

Also, if not used in excess, video games can help reduce stress among all age groups.

As people age, video games have been shown to help with a part of the brain called the hippocampus, which helps with dementia.
