PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Many people are asking how it’s possible to get a COVID-19 vaccine so fast, and if that means there is something shifty going on.
That’s not necessarily true.
First, there was already a great deal of work being done to develop a vaccine against SARS and MERS.
But the key reason is the business-government partnership. Acceleration is possible because the U.S. government and major pharmaceutical companies are working together to build the manufacturing capacity necessary for widespread production before the vaccine is even approved.
It’s a huge financial gamble considered worth the risk.
