Group of Philly lawyers establish phone line to help with election confusion

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With so much new information out there about how to cast your vote in the upcoming election, a group of lawyers in the Philadelphia region is volunteering to staff a phone bank Wednesday night to help clear up any confusion the public may have.

The LegalLine lawyers are expecting to be busy fielding questions about the election and voting, such as "shouldn't I have received my mail-in ballot by now?"

"That's a great question. You may or may not have received your mail-in ballot. I speak from my own experience, my husband has received his and I have not received mine yet. However we live in the same household," explained Hillary Ladov, chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

"The ballots are coming, they were released last week, there was a little bit of a delay in getting them out due to some pending litigation. But you should be receiving your ballot," she added.

Ladov said they can help callers go through the ballot tracking website, as well as any other concerns.

The LegalLine number is 215-238-6333, and it will be available 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

"There is so much information out there sometimes it's nice to just have a guide to walk you through," she said.

Anyone can call for general questions, but the lawyers are prepared with specifics for Philadelphia voters.

This session is about voting for the upcoming election, however, for more than two decades, the Young Lawyers Division's LegalLine community service program has been offering legal advice on a variety of subjects at no cost to area residents.
