PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A small plane crash at a Montgomery County airport has left the pilot hospitalized.

It happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Field Airport in Limerick, according to fire officials.

Officials told our partners at NBC10 that the crash caused a fuel leak.

First responders reportedly arrived as airport staff were trying to remove the trapped pilot from the aircraft. He was the only person aboard the plane.

The pilot was taken to a nearby hospital. Limerick police said federal aviation officials are keeping up with the situation.

The airport will be closed until the scene is cleared.
