Longtime KYW Newsradio South Jersey bureau chief Ed Kasuba dead at 74

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — KYW Newsradio is mourning the death of one of its own. Longtime South Jersey Bureau Chief Ed Kasuba has died. He was 74.

For 33 years, Kasuba covered every big story in South Jersey for KYW Newsradio. He arrived in the '70s from WOWO Radio in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and became a fixture on Philadelphia's airwaves, reporting on every New Jersey governor, from Brendan Byrne to Jon Corzine.

When Atlantic City launched casino gambling in 1978, Gov. Byrne cut the ribbon at Resorts International in Atlantic City, right in front of Kasuba's broadcast location.

Kasuba served as KYW's union steward for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He retired from Newsradio in 2008 and went on to serve as a spokesman for the Delaware River Port Authority until 2012. He also taught journalism at Rowan University, sparking the careers of a new generation of broadcasters.

Kasubsa was active in the Knights of Columbus, did volunteer publicity for the Levoy Theater in Millville and even played the accordion.

His wife, Donna Lee, died in 2016.
