BROOKHAVEN, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — A Delaware County man is facing charges after authorities say he made threats on Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s life.
Pennsylvania State Police said Richard Franklin of Brookhaven was arrested following an incident Tuesday afternoon at the district office of State Rep. Leanne Krueger.
Authorities said the 65-year-old Franklin allegedly made an antisemitic comment about Shapiro while seeking assistance with his outstanding taxes, and then threatened to set fire to the governor’s mansion.
Officers arrested Franklin at his home, where they said he admitted to the slur, but claimed he was speaking sympathetically about the previous arson attack on the governor’s mansion.
He is charged with terroristic threats, ethnic intimidation, and related offenses.
