FRANKLINVILLE, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in South Jersey have a man in custody after they said he broke into a home and assaulted two people with a metal pipe Saturday morning.

It happened just before 9 a.m. at a house on Little Mill Road in Franklinville

Authorities identified the man as 53-year-old Shawn Huntsinger, and said he kicked down the door of the home even as a man inside the home tried to stop him. He then assaulted that man and a woman inside the home with a metal pipe.

Officials said the woman was able to escape the home and call for help. Police arrived, surrounded the house, and called in the SWAT team when Huntsinger did not comply with demands to surrender.

He was eventually taken into custody around 11:30 in the morning.

The male victim was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators are still looking into what led up to the incident.
