CLAYMONT, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — A 22-year-old man is behind bars after police in Delaware said he fired several shots at another man who was standing with a woman and a toddler.
It happened just after 8:30 a.m. Monday on the unit block of Palace Avenue in Claymont, when New Castle County Police said Johnny Washington got into an altercation with a 26-year-old man.
According to authorities, Washington grabbed a gun and fired several times at the man, hitting him once in his upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released, officials confirmed.
The woman and the 3-year-old child were not injured, according to police. Responding officers quickly found Washington, who had fled the scene after the shooting, and took him into custody.
Washington faces charges including assault and reckless endangerment.
