PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities in Bensalem arrested a man on Tuesday after he stole a U-Haul truck and crashed into multiple civilian and patrol vehicles during a seven-hour police pursuit.
Around 8:30 a.m., police received a report of a stolen U-Haul truck that hit a car, then fled. Investigators identified the offending driver as 38-year-old Ryan Laskowski, of Bristol Township, and issued a warrant for his arrest.
However, over the course of seven hours, Laskowski hit several other vehicles. Officials said he returned to the area of the initial hit-and-run throughout the day, during which he struck a Pennsylvania State Police patrol car and multiple other cars.
As police vehicles chased Laskowski in the U-Haul, authorities said he intentionally hit a “Bensalem Police Department patrol unit, a fence and a fire hydrant” near the ACME grocery store on Bristol Road.
Laskowski was apprehended a couple miles away after he crashed into another car. The occupants of that car sustained minor injuries, as did Laskowski.
Once he is released from the hospital, he will be formally arraigned on multiple charges, including felony fleeing and eluding, theft of a motor vehicle, and reckless endangerment.
