
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police arrested a man accused of killing a woman who was found in a garbage can in West Philadelphia last month.
On the morning of Jan. 30, police responded to a report of a body found inside a garbage can on North 47th Street, near Fairmount Avenue.
The deceased woman was later identified as 54-year-old Deborah Leatherberry, of Southwest Philadelphia. Officials said she was shot in the left side of her head.
Investigators identified the suspect as 61-year-old Ricardo Ponds. SEPTA police officers arrested Ponds on Wednesday at 15th and Market streets.
Officials said he will be charged with murder and related weapons offenses.
