PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The man who admitted to attacking a pregnant woman who is carrying his child outside her Hatfield apartment last week is back behind bars after a Montgomery County judge increased his bail.

Raymond Bautista, 35, of Allentown, is in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after Judge William Carpenter increased his bail to $500,000 cash and ordered no contact with the woman he is accused of attacking.

Bautista is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault of an unborn child, which could carry a maximum of 20 to 40 years in prison. He was released pending trial on $75,000 unsecured bail.

However, prosecutors requested an emergency bail review, arguing the attack was premeditated and deliberate.

“That was inappropriate, given the nature and circumstances of the case,” prosecutor Bradley Deckel said of the initial bail amount. “It was insufficient to ensure the safety of the victim and her unborn child.”

Carpenter called it a brutal and vicious attack on a pregnant woman, sufficient to break her nose.

Video from a neighbor’s Ring camera shows a masked man hiding in wait for the woman around 4:30 a.m. on April 24, then jump-kicking her from behind and beating her.

According to prosecutors, the woman told Bautista in February that she was pregnant with his child, and Bautista wanted her to end the pregnancy.

Police said Bautista admitted to the attack, and he is now back behind bars.

Clothes and a mask matching what’s seen in the video were also found in his car, and license plate readers and surveillance cameras put that car in the area at the time of the attack.
