PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are searching for the good Samaritans who helped a man after he was beaten and robbed in the hopes of gathering more information about the assault.

The 62-year-old man was walking his dog in the Brewerytown neighborhood of North Philadelphia around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, police said.

He was near a park by 30th and Jefferson streets when he was attacked. He was severely beaten throughout his body, and his wallet was taken.

He suffered a head injury and lacerations to his face and mouth, requiring more than 100 stitches.

“Three females are seen carrying carrying the complainant back to his home,” said Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore. “We believe the females that were the good Samaritans here may have seen something. We don’t know who they are, so we’re hoping to get someone here to give us a tip, give us a call, identify somebody who was out there so we can talk to them and get more information.”

Vanore said there was an unauthorized pop-up party going on nearby, but investigators are not sure if that is connected to the assault.

Officials urge anyone who may have any information to call or text 215-686-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online.
