Man charged in BUI crash on Schuylkill River that injured 4 adults, 2 infants

6 people were treated at area hospitals for varying injuries

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A South Jersey man is facing a slew of charges after police say he crashed a boat while under the influence, sending several adults and two babies to the hospital.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday, investigators say a boat hit an area under the 34th Street Bridge along the Schuylkill River. There were nine people on board, including the driver.

Three women and one man, ranging in age from 23 to 31, were taken to area hospitals for varying issues, including head, ankle and back injuries.

Two 1-year-olds were also taken to the hospital — one for evaluation and another for a nosebleed.

Two other men in their 20s were not injured.

Police arrested the driver, 29-year-old Parminder Singh, of Pennsauken, New Jersey.

He was charged with boating under the influence, reckless endangerment and related offenses.
