PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police have arrested a man accused of attacking another man, who has autism, while on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line two months ago.
On March 14, 25-year-old Isaiah Miller was coming home from bowling with friends. He said he was just trying to be nice to some women on the train when a man charged at him, threw him to the ground and punched him.
A good Samaritan pulled the man off of him.
Police shared surveillance footage of the attack last month to try to identify the suspect.
Miller’s mother, Beth, said she believed her son was targeted because he has autism. She said he is beginning to heal emotionally from the attack.
“He says that he’s OK, he’s back out there,” she told NBC10. “He’s resumed a lot of his previously enjoyed activities.”
Isaiah Miller also graduated from Temple University last week.
The accused attacker, 31-year-old Sieed Thomas, now faces assault and harassment charges.
