Man dead after gunshots ring out during North Philly argument
NBC10

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One man is dead after police said an argument led to a shootout in North Philadelphia Friday night.

Police said it all unfolded just after 7 p.m. on the 3100 block of North 17 Street, just off Allegheny Avenue.

Inspector D.F. Pace said the victim, a 49-year-old man, was sitting in a parked car when something transpired between him and another man walking by wearing a black jacket and a black chef’s apron.

“These two did confront each other on the street,” Pace said. “Somehow the individual in the car got out of the car — the decedent — and gunfire was exchanged.”

The man was taken to a nearby hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He later died.

The incident was captured on nearby surveillance cameras. At the scene, officials found drug paraphernalia, a gun, a cellphone believed to belong to the victim and five shell casings. The victim’s car, a white Alfa Romeo, was also there.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-8477. Tips can be anonymous.
