PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two people are dead after separate crashes in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Officials said a 62-year-old man tried crossing Roosevelt Boulevard at Southampton Road in Northeast Philly around 10:30 a.m. He crossed into traffic with a green light and was struck by a black Ford Taurus heading south on the boulevard.
The man was rushed to the hospital, where he died just after 11:15 a.m. The driver of the truck that hit him, a 21-year-old man, remained on the scene.
Police said the other crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. after an e-bike rider ran a red light going north on 58th Street in West Philly. As he crossed Pine Street, a person driving eastbound in a black Chrysler hit him.
The man died at the scene just minutes after the crash. He had no form of ID on him. Authorities are still trying to learn his identity.
The driver of the Chrysler remained on the scene.
The Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is investigating both accidents.
