WHITEHALL, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — A 53-year-old man was killed, and a woman is in critical condition after police in Lehigh County said another man intentionally drove into them with the intention of killing the woman.
It happened Friday night in the parking lot of the Spring Ridge apartment complex on North 14th in Whitehall Township.
Police say 55-year-old Rajgion Davis initially crashed into an unoccupied Toyota RAV-4 in the parking lot before fleeing. Not long after, the car’s owner Francesca Washington came into the parking lot to look at the damage and joined her neighbors Stephen and Yessenia Fistner, who were walking their dog.
It was then, authorities say, that Davis reappeared in his car and sped toward the trio. Stephen was able to push his wife and dog out of the way of the car before being hit. Davis also pinned Washington between two other vehicles.
Investigators say witnesses saw Davis then exit his car, yell at Washington, and walk away.
Body cam footage of his arrest just a block away captured Davis admitting his intention to kill Washington, saying that he “accepts responsibility for what he did.”
Fistner died from his injuries, and Washington is in critical condition. Davis is in jail without bail.
While police have no official motive, they also recorded him saying he did it because of Washington’s “disrespect.”
A hearing for Davis is scheduled for Aug. 16.
